It's a down right pity that Cousin Sonny, DHR's BJ Walker & the Senate and House Human Services Committee Members appear not to have shown concern for 136 mysterious Deaths in Georgia's Mental Hospitals until the Federal Government was called in.
In any other State, the head of the DHR - BJ Walker would have rolled back to Chicago over this horrendous atrocity.
That AJC series is going to win the Pultizer this year and our Bibb Delegation will probably be out catching Mercury filled fish in the Ocmulgee, with sales tax inflated bazookas strapped on their back.
Enjoy the free time that you get from not having to hold their hidden wallets to the fire on the Mental Health Issues.
Oh, i love Cecil Staton (the sinner) but not the sin and one of my 2008 goals is to sit on the front row of his Church with him but I was somewhat disheartened when i saw Cecil referenced in Mr Shipp's 1/15/08 Column.
“State Sen. Cecil Staton, R-Macon, handles broadcasts of football games for Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Although he is an officer of the Senate Higher Education Committee, Staton doesn't see any conflict of interest between his legislative functions and his radio station's football games.
Wonder where the legislative Ethics Committee is - probably hiding behind the shredder again.”
When my SOS friend Karen Handel finishes re-re-re-releasing last year’s Voter I.D press announcement victory, I wish she’d pay some attention to the Corporate Shell Games going on among our Elected Officials.
It only takes a Christian Cross or less to pierce a Corporate Veil.
I thought veils were only allowed in Extremist, Radical Islamist land. Yanno, there is one behind every corner just waiting to jump out and get ya.
But to be fair, Robert Brown, David Lucas, Nikki Randall, Allen Freeman, Tony Sellier and Allen Peake are too quiet on too much important stuff this session, the number one being reigning in runaway Health Care Insurance Costs and of course the GDOT waste, fraud and abuse nightmare that my current guru and Mentor Dr Gena Abraham has unveiled.
I fear Cousin Sonny is going to distract Dr Abraham’s good works by pouring a bucket of other responsibilities on her head.
One happy note, I’m sure our distinguished Monroe County Rep to our North, Jim Cole’s Water Supply business is booming during the drought. Cheers to ya Culligan Man!
Let’s sponsor a Fanning Institute, Ocmulgee Fish, Fish fry for our dear Christian Friends listed above and preach the gospel to them, I bet we‘d get a good turnout if we also billed it as an Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine Fundraiser...
Did I leave anyone out? I think you owe Mr Shipp an apology, his crystal ball sees things that your and mine miss…
Georgia is starting to smell a lot like 3 day old Fish, in a dry creekbed.
Happy MLK Day, I’ll leave you with a couple of quotes:
1) “Human Salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.”
2) “The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood. “
3) “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
